The Swift Trekker is a Ford Transit-based campervan available in two distinct versions. The Trekker X adds an elevating roof and four-berth accommodation, while the fixed-roof Trekker XF is designed around two-person touring.
Built on the Ford Transit, the Trekker combines a full washroom and kitchen with a rear double bed within a panel van conversion. The X and XF share the same 5.98m overall length, but take different approaches to the roof and sleeping accommodation.
The Trekker X adds a 205cm x 130cm bed within the elevating roof, creating separate sleeping space above the main living area. The XF does away with the pop-top altogether, giving it a lower overall profile and keeping its two-berth accommodation within the main body of the campervan.

The choice between the Trekker X and XF is about more than adding two extra berths. The X uses an elevating roof with a separate double bed, allowing four people to sleep in the campervan without increasing its 5.98m overall length. The main living and sleeping space below remains available independently of the roof bed.
The XF takes a different approach. Its fixed roof gives the campervan a lower overall height and a more streamlined profile, with the rear double bed providing the sleeping accommodation for two. It was introduced specifically as an alternative for couples who don’t need the additional roof bed but still want the Trekker’s touring specification.

The Trekker combines the compact dimensions of a panel van conversion with equipment you would normally expect to look for in a dedicated touring vehicle. The current specification includes a full washroom, built-in oven and grill, Whale heating, Duvalay mattresses, parking aids and a rear-view camera.
The Ford Transit base also brings a 165bhp 2.0-litre EcoBlue engine, with automatic transmission available as an option. Current models add Ford Sync 4, while Swift includes practical touring equipment such as a roll-out awning, solar panel and external shower and BBQ points.
That leaves the main choice between X and XF relatively straightforward: whether the additional sleeping space provided by the elevating roof is useful to you, or whether you’d rather have the simpler fixed-roof configuration of the XF.
