Chausson has regularly introduced new approaches to motorhome layouts, particularly around drop-down beds and making better use of living space during the day. On the used market this creates a broad choice, with models from ranges such as Flash, Titanium and the compact S series appearing alongside different special editions and specification levels.
Model names and trim levels are worth checking carefully when comparing used examples. First Line, Titanium, Premium and other editions can differ in equipment, while specifications can change between model years. The floorplan is just as important, particularly where two Chausson models of a similar length use their interior space in very different ways.

Chausson layouts can differ considerably even when the overall vehicle dimensions are relatively close. Some use a drop-down bed to keep more of the floor available for the lounge during the day, while others use fixed rear beds or twin singles to provide permanent sleeping accommodation.
The important question is therefore not simply how many people the motorhome can sleep. Consider how often the beds need to be made up, whether you want a permanent rear sleeping area, how much lounge space you use during the day and where larger items will be stored.
Garage access is another consideration on models with fixed rear beds, while drop-down bed layouts can be useful if daytime living space takes priority. Looking at the day and night arrangement of an individual Chausson will usually tell you more than berth number alone.
Chausson model names can tell you part of the story, but the specification of the individual vehicle still needs checking. Ranges and equipment levels have changed over the years, and special editions can include equipment that wasn’t fitted to the standard version of the same model.
Chassis can vary too. Chausson has built motorhomes on both Ford Transit and Fiat Ducato bases, so transmission, engine and cab equipment shouldn’t be assumed from the habitation model alone.
When comparing two used examples, check the model year, chassis, payload, fitted options and service and habitation history alongside the mileage. Accessories added after the vehicle was built should also be taken into account, particularly where available payload is important.
