Used HYMER Motorhomes for Sale

HYMER has produced a substantial range of motorhomes over the decades, including compact coachbuilt models, low-profile motorhomes and integrated A-Class designs. Names such as B-Class, Exsis, Tramp and ML-T have appeared across different periods, alongside earlier models that remain well represented on the used market.

This makes the individual model and year particularly important when buying used. Construction, chassis, layouts and equipment have developed considerably over time, and even familiar HYMER model names can cover several generations. Comparing the actual specification of each vehicle is therefore more useful than relying on the range name alone.

    Choosing a Used HYMER Motorhome

HYMER has produced motorhomes for very different types of use, so deciding between them involves more than choosing a berth number. An integrated A-Class model offers a different driving and living arrangement from a low-profile coachbuilt, while individual layouts can prioritise permanent beds, lounge space, garage storage or a combination of the three.

Chassis is another important consideration. Different HYMER ranges and generations have been built on Fiat, Mercedes-Benz and other base vehicles, and this can affect everything from driving characteristics and transmission to servicing requirements and available payload.

Size and weight should also be considered early. Some larger HYMER motorhomes may require a driving licence entitlement appropriate to their plated weight, while more compact models can be better suited to buyers who don’t need the additional living and storage space.

    Understanding Older HYMER Models

HYMER has a long model history, and many older motorhomes remain in use well beyond the end of their original production run. This means the used market can include models from very different periods, with variations in construction, heating, electrical systems and interior equipment.

Don’t assume that an older model should be dismissed simply because a newer equivalent exists. Condition, maintenance and how the motorhome has been looked after are important considerations. A well-maintained older HYMER may make more sense for a particular buyer than a newer vehicle with the wrong layout or specification.

Service and habitation history should be checked alongside mileage, and the operation of the heating, water, electrical and habitation equipment should form part of assessing an individual vehicle. Any accessories added since manufacture should also be considered when checking payload.

    HYMER Layouts and Storage

Bed arrangement has a significant effect on how a HYMER works in everyday use. Across different generations you’ll find rear single beds, island beds, transverse beds, drop-down beds and lounges that provide additional sleeping accommodation.

Fixed beds can create useful storage or garage space beneath, but the amount and accessibility varies considerably between models. If you’re carrying bikes, outdoor equipment or larger items, check the dimensions and access to the storage area rather than relying on the description alone.

It’s also worth looking at the floorplan with the beds in use. This can reveal differences in access to the washroom, kitchen or entrance that aren’t immediately obvious when viewing the motorhome in its daytime configuration.

    Experience with HYMER

Emm-Bee has extensive experience with HYMER motorhomes, including both current vehicles and earlier models that now appear on the used market.

That experience can be particularly useful when comparing motorhomes from different generations, where layouts, equipment and specifications may have changed substantially. Servicing and aftercare are also available through the on-site workshop.
